This policy is designed to comply with the legal frameworks of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, including the Cyber Security Act 2023 and the constitutional right to privacy, alongside international best practices for app stores (Google Play Store & Apple App Store).

2. Local-First Processing & Data Storage

Smart Scan is designed with a "Local-First" architecture.

• Documents & Contacts: All scanned documents, generated PDFs, and extracted contacts are stored locally on your device using a secure SQLite database. We do not upload, copy, or transmit your private documents or contacts to our servers.
• On-Device OCR: Our core Optical Character Recognition (OCR) utilizes Google ML Kit and Tesseract OCR, which process image data directly on your device.
• Cloud Lens (Optional): If you explicitly choose to use the "Smart Lens Online" feature for languages like Bangla, the selected image is temporarily sent to Google Cloud Vision API for processing. We do not retain these images.

3. Permissions We Request

To provide our core functionalities, the app requires the following device permissions:

• Camera: Required to scan documents, visiting cards, and QR/Barcodes.
• Storage/Photos: Required to save generated PDFs and images to your device, and to import existing photos for PDF conversion or text extraction.

* You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, though some app features may become unavailable.

4. Third-Party Services

While we do not collect personal data on our servers, we use verified third-party services that may collect data as governed by their respective privacy policies:

• Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use your device's Advertising ID and location data to serve personalized ads.
• Google ML Kit & Cloud Vision: Used for text recognition and document edge detection.
• Google Play Services: Required for checking in-app updates securely.

5. Data Security

We prioritize the security of your data. By keeping your files entirely on your device's local storage, we eliminate the risks associated with cloud data breaches. However, please ensure your device is secured with a PIN, password, or biometric lock to prevent unauthorized physical access to your scanned documents.

6. Children's Privacy

Our application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take necessary actions.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
